My name is Sydney Alper. I’m an advocate for people with disabilities. I have a rare chromosome disorder called chromosome 18q-proximal deletion. I’ve been on podcasts myself talking about my story. I’m also a best buddies ambassador for New York State. I also did a speech for the friendship walk talking about my story of when I started best buddies! I would be a good guest because I want people to hear my story!

I’d be honored to join Pushing Forward with Alycia because my journey as both an amputee and entrepreneur is rooted in overcoming adversity and being driven by the support of my community.
After losing my leg, I quickly realized how many aspects of the world—especially in fashion and accessibility—weren’t designed with people like me in mind. This gap in the market sparked not only a desire to create something that could help others but also a deeper understanding of the power of community. Through my business, I’m focused on creating adaptive clothing that blends function with style, but more importantly, it’s about empowering individuals to feel confident and seen.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that true innovation comes from listening to the community you’re serving, and building a business from personal adversity can drive real change. I’m excited to share the lessons I’ve learned on resilience, the entrepreneurial journey, and how we can push forward together to create a more inclusive world.
