Walking into the KTAL newsroom felt like stepping onto a live wire—in the best way. Cameras humming, producers zipping by with quiet purpose, the glow of the studio lights bouncing off that iconic NBC 6 set. I was there to help spotlight The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s Leadership Luncheon and the power of disability inclusion in Shreveport-Bossier. KTAL serves this region as NBC 6, and you can feel that deep community connection the moment you arrive.

One highlight was meeting anchor Jacque Jovic—warm, prepared, and genuinely invested in telling stories that move people to action. Jacque also hosted the luncheon itself, which tells you everything about how this community links media with mission.

After we shot the piece at the newsroom, catching up with Jacque at the luncheon was inspiring. She told us she truly enjoyed our visit and, after we left the studio, she began looking around her workspace through the lens of someone in a wheelchair. That simple shift sparked a whole new level of thinking about access—from doorways and routes to camera positions and sightlines. Moments like that are why I do this work: when one conversation reorients how we all see and shape our spaces.

Jacque was so taken with Marty and me that she added another interview—this time with Marty—which should air later this week. I love when our message makes room for the tech-and-access brains behind the scenes. Marty brings a practical, solutions-focused perspective that helps audiences connect “inclusion” to everyday decisions and setups.

Our KTAL segment previewed why the luncheon matters: lifting up The Arc’s work and inviting the wider public into the conversation. Media moments like this stretch the impact of a single keynote far beyond the room.

Thank you, KTAL NBC 6, for the platform. And thank you, Jacque, for the gracious welcome, thoughtful questions, and for modeling what it looks like to keep learning out loud. Together, we’re not just making the news—we’re making progress.
