Igniting Change: Alycia Anderson’s Passionate Address to Educators Nationwide
It’s exciting to share that I was honored with delivering my keynote address, “The Heart of Inclusion,” at the 2024 National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) Annual Conference. This event was and is a fantastic ongoing opportunity for Adapted Physical Education (APE) and Adapted Physical Activity (APA) professionals to connect with renowned experts in the field and learn about evidence-based practices. Engaging in advocacy initiatives and events alongside my fellow professionals was truly inspiring.
This Annual NCPEID Conference kicks off a staggering schedule of events I will be celebrating throughout this July during Disability Pride Month!
NCPEID is a national organization that plays a pivotal role in influencing the direction and development of the adapted physical education/activity field. Its mission is to promote, stimulate, and encourage legislative mandates, professional preparation, advocacy, and research in physical activity, physical education, and recreation for individuals with disabilities.
The 2024 NCPEID Annual Conference was held virtually on July 11-12, 2024, providing a platform for a wide range of sessions. These included poster presentations showcasing current research, free communications presentations on best practices and advocacy, and round table discussions aimed at building resources and addressing major issues in the profession. Additionally, the Emerging Scholars Symposium offered new researchers and practitioners a chance to present their work and receive valuable feedback from established scholars.
Being a part of this great work and sharing my message on disabling ableism to this field of educators is truly impactful work and I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts and feelings to such an esteemed gathering of professionals.
Thank you to The National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID) for hosting me as your opening keynote speaker at the virtual 2024 NCPEID Annual Conference! It was a fantastic opportunity for APE and APA professionals to connect with experts in the field and learn about evidence-based practices. Disability Pride Month is officially launched!
