I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Lily Fox from Women’s World on Wheels to share my journey—one that has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and a relentless pursuit of inclusion. As someone who has navigated the corporate world, transitioned into entrepreneurship, and dedicated my life to advocating for disability inclusion, this conversation was deeply personal.

From Corporate Climb to Owning My Story

For years, I worked in corporate leadership, pushing for accessibility and inclusion from within. But I often found myself hitting walls—policies that didn’t quite go far enough, opportunities that felt out of reach, and an unspoken message that disability was an afterthought. I knew that if I wanted to create real change, I needed to take control of the narrative. That’s why I built The Alycia Anderson Company—a business centered on educating, consulting, and proving that accessibility is not just the right thing to do; it’s good for business.

Speaking Up and Making an Impact

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that our stories have power. On the podcast, I shared how my experiences—both personal and professional—have shaped my approach to advocacy. Speaking on stages, consulting with organizations, and helping businesses see the value of accessibility isn’t just a job for me; it’s my purpose. Every time I roll into a room, I bring representation, perspective, and a call to action.

Entrepreneurship as a Leap of Faith

Starting my own company wasn’t easy. It meant stepping into the unknown, betting on myself, and proving that my voice belonged in spaces where disability had long been overlooked. But every challenge I’ve faced has only reinforced my belief that accessibility is a competitive advantage, not a compliance issue. I want to help businesses see disability inclusion as an opportunity for innovation, connection, and long-term success.

Empowering Others to Own Their Path

A key takeaway from my conversation on Women’s World on Wheels was the importance of self-belief. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, an advocate, or someone trying to navigate an inaccessible world, know this: Your experiences matter. Your perspective is valuable. And you don’t need permission to take up space.

Listen In & Keep Pushing Forward

I hope my story inspires others to embrace their potential and push for the change they want to see. You can listen to my full conversation on Women’s World on Wheels here. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue shaping a world that works for everyone!
