I recently had the incredible opportunity to roll down the runway, modeling adaptive wear from Target and Zappos Family of Companies at the Runway of Dreams Adaptive Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week.
It was the realization of a dream—a goal I set for myself a year ago, picturing what it would feel like to be on that iconic stage during one of the most celebrated events in fashion.
What is Runway of Dreams?
Runway of Dreams is a groundbreaking organization founded by Mindy Scheier, committed to transforming the fashion industry to be more inclusive of people with disabilities.
Advocating for adaptive clothing design and the representation of all bodies, it challenges the traditional norms and barriers that have long existed in fashion and allows disabled people to finally feel really great in clothing that fits perfectly.
Rolling the runway at New York Fashion Week was more than just a personal achievement; it was a celebration of advocacy, inclusion, and the power of dreaming big and turning those dreams into reality.
Movements like these are truly transformative because they shatter outdated beauty standards and create new spaces to redefine what beauty looks like.
And now, we’re taking center stage on the runway!
