I was asked in an interview once: What is one song that always puts you in a good mood? “Roar”: by Katy Perry.

The lyrics…”I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, Dancing through the fire, ‘Cause I am a champion, and you’re gonna hear me roar.”

Tigers are a symbol of bravery, strength, courage, and resilience.

Living with a disability has forced me to bravely navigate environments and situations that oftentimes have not been ready for me. In a world of limited role models or people “who look like me,” I’ve also had to bravely overcome my own self-doubt or doubt that stems from others.

I’ve had to find my voice and use my voice to ‘roar’ to demonstrate to all true possibility.

So I play this song loudly when I’m feeling that self-doubt and “dance through the fire” because “I am a champion and you will hear me roar.” #KatyPerry
